finished for now :)

hey guys
i have finally finished my student magazine
and the next blog i will do will be on the start of my music magazine
bye for now :P

Evaluation done finally :)

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The key ingredients of a student magazine would include catchy cover lines to lure the reader in, bright and interesting photograph, clear and clear layout and my mode of address toward my target audience which is the teenager making the magazine informal and laid back. I have included these ingredients to follow basic guide lines but I have also put my own stamp on the student magazine by researching into some of the cover lines and I have taken my own photographs to make the student magazine that more unique than other student magazines. I have used the traditional conventions of a magazine into mine but I have changed as I have said before, researching into cover lines and taken my own photographs. I have pushed the boundaries of the conventional magazine cover.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My student magazine (media product) has represented the particular social group of students/ teenagers; I have represented this particular social group by taking photographs of students and including stories which would have been of interested to that age group. The language which I have included in my magazine is informal and laid back to more accessible for a wider audience.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The kind of media institution which would distribute my student magazine would be the college however I would have to change a few assets of my magazine to make it more appealing towards the students and would eventually become more popular taking over the normal student magazine displayed.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My audience for the student magazine would teenagers aged between 16 and 19 years old, it would be suitable for both genders and the general profile of my audience would appeal to a wider audience taking a wider variety of courses at college.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I have attracted/ addressed my target audience by using language which my audience would understand. Pictures, cover lines and contents page are used to attract students by having photographs of students, I use cover lines to lure the audience into buying the media product. I have used the font for my title because it reflects the student life.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The technologies I have learnt about while in the process of constructing this product are the use of digital cameras and Corel paint shop pro x; I have learnt to use these technologies by knowing how to edit photographs and taking good photographs at good angles.

Textual analysis on First Car Front cover and contents page

The use of a relatively large font size for the mast head has made brand identifying easier for the reader to determine between two different brands, the mast head also uses sans-serif.
The layout of this magazine is clear giving clean lines of direction making the readers divert to the mast head then to banner/ headline with the main exclusive feature across the front of the magazine. The strap-line on this magazine is at the top of the page displaying four subtitles including technical stuff and competition, this makes the reader want to buy the magazine as they have a chance at winning a prize.
The use of captions and cover lines underneath the three photographs attracts the audience to the lower part of the magazine to show the other articles included to intrigue the audience to read on and to buy the magazine.

The heading for the contents page uses serif, it also uses captions with catchy summaries underneath the photographs to entice the audience to read the articles mentioned in the page. The use of big and bold, black and white page numbers makes it a whole lot easier for the reader. The contents page is essentially spilt into three columns and sections, however the bottom photograph covers column 1 and 2. The sections are mainly down the column 3 including sections e.g. Front, Ride on, Gear, Feature, Rear end and Meet the team, these sections have sub titles and cover lines, to cover the basic storyline. The Meet the team  is a summary of the main people behind the magazine, there is also an catchy statement about that one person.
In conclusion, the magazine has aimed at the right target audience e.g. early learner drivers. It is fun, easy to read and accessible.
